Car Defect May Be Cause of Indianapolis Car Accident

Comments Off

A car accident, Tuesday, on Indiana 32, left a Noblesville man in critical condition. He was transported by air ambulance to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis with broken ribs, a torn liver and punctured lung.

Investigators believe a mechanical defect may be the cause of the accident. Police say the man, 20, lost control of the vehicle and flipped several times.

The passenger, 19, of the vehicle suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and cuts and bruises to his head, neck and back in the crash. Neither driver nor passenger had a seatbelt on.

“They were traveling westbound on (Ind.) 32, left the roadway and struck a guardrail. The vehicle actually flipped about three times and came to rest on its top,” said Dunbar. “The driver was partially ejected. He was partially pinned underneath the vehicle.”

“A witness said they did not appear to be traveling extremely fast,” said Dunbar. “He estimated their speed between 50 and 60 (mph).

At this time there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved.
