CPSC – Coil Nailers Recalled

Comments Off

Hitachi Koki Co. announced a voluntary recall of Coil Nailers, in cooperation with Health Canada and the Consumer Product Safety Commission because they have a faulty feeder which poses a serious injury hazard to the user and/or bystander.

To this date, the company has received 37 incident reports — 15 of which included injuries, primarily to the eye, including five reports of partial blindness.

The products are used to project nails into drywall, wood and like materials. The model number affected by the recall is NV83A2. The CPSC Web site contains photos of the recalled nailers. They were sold at popular home improvement stores including Home Depot and Lowes.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled nailers and to contact the company at (800) 706-7337 to arrange a free repair. You can report incidents and/or injuries to the CPSC directly.
