A fatal car accident in Knox County, Indiana, claimed the lives of an elderly brother and sister of Freelandville, Indiana, on Thanksgiving Day.

Indiana State Police, in Evansville, say the woman, 88, died at Good Samaritan Hospital while her brother 85, died after being transported by air ambulanced to Wishard Hospital, in Indianapolis.

The accident happened just after 5:15 p.m., Thursday, on Indiana 67 when the 1990 Mercury they were traveling in swerved to avoid hitting a deer and left the highway. The woman was in the backseat while her brother was in the front seat. Neither of them were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man of Bicknell, Indiana, was wearing and seatbelt and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries. He was identified as the passenger’s son.
