One person was injured in a truck accident on Monday when a pickup truck and beer truck collided.
The accident happened near the intersection of South Meridian and West Elbert Street. Meridian was closed down for several hours causing traffic to be diverted as firefighters worked to clear the area.
The accident occurred as the 18-wheeler — carrying 38,000 pounds of beer — was making a U-Turn across the northbound and southbound lanes of Meridian. The beer truck collided with the pickup, according to an IFD spokesperson.
The injured man was taken to the hospital by a family member with minor injuries.
Approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled on the street during the crash. More than 150, 40-pound bags of oil dry, was used by firefighters to clean up the leak.
