An Indianapolis woman was killed in a trucking accident, on Interstate 69, Thursday, when a semi-truck driver failed to notice slow moving traffic and crashed into her vehicle from behind, police said.
The 29-year-old woman was killed instantly in the wreck that occurred at 9:15am, said the Delaware County Deputy Coroner.
Indiana State Police were escorting an oversized load, from Guide Corp. Factory, in Anderson, to Michigan, which had slowed down the flow of traffic.
The woman’s car was stopped or slowed, when the semi-truck driver, struck it from behind, according to the investigating officer with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department.
The semi ran over the top of her vehicle, striking another semi in font of her vehicle.
The semi-driver was not cited for a traffic violation or charged with a crime pending further investigating. Motor carrier inspectors with the Indiana State Police are helping the Delaware County sheriff with their investigation and are looking into whether the semi driver had violated any trucking laws.
